In the end credits scenes of KGF 2, such a hint was given that the third film of this franchise may also come. But in the midst of the success of KGF 2, that thing is buried. Now Yash has given clarity on this matter that what is his next plan. That is, how does he see the future of this KGF franchise. Yash said in a recent interview to Variety –
“Me and Prashant have already thought out many scenes. We could not do many things in Chapter 2. There are a lot of fun scenes out there, so we know the possibilities are plentiful. But for now this is just an idea. And we have left it for now.”
In this interview, Yash told the story of joining KGF. Homeballe Films made its first film in 2014 with Puneet Rajkumar. After producing ‘Nindel’, this company approached Yash. It was decided to work together on more than one project. The collaboration of Homeballe Films and Yash started with the film ‘Masterpiece’. Now it was the turn of the next film. Yash had seen a film called ‘Ugram’ at the same time. Yash was very impressed. ‘Ugram’ was directed by debutant Prashant Neel.
Prashant had an idea. He narrated that idea to Yash and Homeballe Films. This was a story that happened in a mine. Due to the setting of the story, Yash realized for the first time that it could become a big film. Prashant molded that idea according to Yash’s vision. After this Yash finished his other work and started working on this story. Yash explains-
“KGF was made as a film. But in the middle of production, Prashant decided to break it into two parts. Because he felt that some scenes had to be wrapped in a hurry, due to which his emotional angle was weakening. Emotions are very important for the Indian audience. Be it any genre. So we started spreading it. Production took a break of one month to work on this department. The best portions we had were in the second half. Which is seen in Chapter 2. That’s why we were worried about Chapter 1. Because if the first part does not work, then we will never be able to make Chapter 2. It was such a risk that we had to take it.”
Not only in India, KGF 2 is being liked all over the world. An over the top Indian film is being liked in foreign countries as well, what does Yash think is the reason behind it. Yash said that every film industry wants to set its market in India. Our films are also playing there. Yash says that Indian cinema is going to the international level and the world is watching India’s market. This could be a two-way collaboration. Yash adds to this-
“I know they have a lot of technology, budget. But every time it is not just about technology. Content matters. Those people also want to see something different. They want to know other culture. They want to see our heroes.”
As far as the earnings of KGF 2 are concerned, then this film has earned more than 930 crores from all over the world. At the same time, this film has done a business of Rs 329.40 crore from all over the country. Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty and Raveena Tandon were also seen along with Yash in KGF 2.
