15-year-old Mudassir Alam and 24-year-old Sahil died due to bullet injuries during a demonstration in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi against controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad.
Both of them, including all the injured, were admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi after being shot, official sources of the institute have confirmed the death of both of them.
Jharkhand Police spokesperson Amol V Homkar has confirmed these deaths.
He said, “During yesterday’s violence, we have also received information about firing by protesters. Police also fired in the air to control the militants. During this, 12 policemen and 12 protesters were injured. Some including a policeman were injured. People have bullet injuries.”
According to Homkar, at present the condition of some of the 22 injured is critical. He said, “The condition of two-three of these people remains critical. The condition of the rest of the people can be said to be fine according to the doctors.”
15-year-old Mudassir Alam was shot in the head. He was the only child of his parents. When he was brought to the hospital, his black Afghan kurta was torn in some places and his white pants were stained with blood red. His mother Nikhat is in a bad condition.
His family lives in a rented house in Hindpiri locality. His father Parvez Alam was in Simdega when Mudassir was shot. On receiving the news of his son’s injury, he hurriedly came to Ranchi.
‘My son was very friendly’
He told the BBC, “Mudasir is my only son. Due to poverty, we could not educate him properly. We both (father and son) work to run the house. My son was very friendly. Why shoot him What was his fault?
Mudassir’s uncle Mohammad Shahid Ayubi is the district president of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM. He alleged that his nephew was shot by the police. For this the Jharkhand government and its administration is responsible.
Shahid Ayubi told the BBC, “Police men were firing with AK-47s and pistols. They should have fired in the air, but the police opened fire on the protesters by targeting them. Many videos of this are going viral. One can see the policemen firing from the front.”
“Mudassir or any of the protestors were neither terrorists nor extremists. Why did the police fire at them. Who ordered it. In fact, poison has been spread inside the country. Our bureaucrats have also become under the same mentality. Because of this such incidents are happening.”
24 year old Sahil also died
Sahil, 24, also died in this firing. According to the hospital management, his kidney was shot, due to which he could not be saved.
However, no person from Sahil’s family has been contacted so far. Many more people were injured in the firing during the demonstration.
