CAA, NRC, and NPR Protest were held for 200 days in East Medinipur district, West Bengal. On Thursday, Sheikh Amenul Islam, one of the women’s district committee members Sainaz Begum, Aktari Bibi and Ajmira Bibi, and other leaders were on the stage. Like other days, the constitution’s preamble is read on this day.
The movement was stopped due to Covid19. Then two years later, continuous sit-ins against CAA and NRC started in West Bengal. The Welfare Party of India began this Protest in the Uttar Sonamui area of Tamluk in the East Medinipur district. The women of the East Medinipur district party branch are constantly in Protest.
Sarwar Hasan, State General Secretary of the party, said that the protest against CAA was stopped due to Corona and lockdown. But the government has not changed the law yet. We want to make it clear that granting citizenship based on religion is against the constitution, against the tradition of India. Narendra Modi’s government forcefully brought this law for narrow interests despite objections from opposition parties in Parliament. The movement will continue until the CAA is repealed, like the Agriculture Act.
But how long will the movement be?
Sarwar Hasan said, “it could be one year, or ten years. The movement will continue until the CAA 2019 is repealed.” The presence of women on the Protest stage is more. On the first day, the party’s State president Manasa Sen inaugurated the program. Then various leaders, including Central President Dr. SQR Ilyas, came there. Various social activists, human rights activists, and political activists also went to the Protest stage.
Mansa Sen, State President of WPI, said that unity in diversity is India’s tradition. The people of India will not accept CAA 2019. BJP brought this law to create division among people.
The agitators say the central government has said there would be no NRC. So why NRC law? There will be protests if the NPR, along with the census, is the first phase of NRC.
