A land of vibrant culture, stunning landscapes and a warmth that captivates the heart, Mexico offers a wide range of destinations perfect for couples looking to escape the routine and rekindle the flame of romance.
That’s why today we’ll explore the seven most romantic places in Mexico, where couples can immerse themselves in natural beauty, enjoy unforgettable cultural experiences, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Get ready to be swept away by love in these corners of Mexico that will make your heart beat faster!
1. The beaches of Bacalar
Fly to Cancun and head south. The trip takes about four hours, but once there it’s well worth it. The water in this little Caribbean cove is absolutely stunning. Being so far away from the tourist areas, it’s a very peaceful place, perfect for a romantic getaway.
Zensus Eco Boutique Hotel is the epitome of a romantic Mexican getaway. Each room is its own gorgeous cabana and many of them surround the pool which is lit up at night to create a romantic atmosphere.
Have breakfast al fresco, sip coffee on your private balcony, and walk from the hotel to the beautiful turquoise waters of the Bacalar Lagoon.
2. Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is a great place if you’re looking for a romantic getaway in Mexico where you can try out tons of different restaurants and bars, as well as head out into the Riviera Maya region to do some exploring.
There is so much to see and do in Yucatan that staying in Playa del Carmen is both convenient and fun. Plus, there are plenty of amazing luxury resorts in Playa del Carmen for a romantic vacation in Mexico.
If you want to feel totally pampered with your partner, perhaps somewhere where champagne is on tap and cozy beds along soft sandy beaches, then you will find it in Playa del Carmen.
The Royal Playa del Carmen is absolutely stunning. Every room has a private pool, has private beach access, and the spa services are made for couples looking for a relaxing and romantic getaway.
Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera is also an amazing place worth visiting. First of all, any hotel that starts with the word secret is a place that piques my interest. This hotel is much more secluded and is a bit outside the main town of Playa del Carmen, but the surroundings are really stunning.
The beach is as private as a beach in Mexico can be (all beaches in Mexico are public). All hotel guests must be over 16, so if you’re looking for an “adult” vacation, this is a great option.
Playa del Carmen is one of the best places in Mexico for couples, and the Secrets Marona resort adds even more romance to this Caribbean getaway.
3. Cuixmala
Cuixmala is a hotel so big and beautiful that it’s basically its own town. It’s been rated one of the top 10 hotels in the world. It’s absurdly beautiful and so insanely romantic that you may never want to leave.
On one side of Cuixmala are mountains and volcanoes, and on the other, the Pacific Ocean. This is a true destination hotel and everything you could possibly need is provided for.
4. The Cape
Cabo is one of the best places in Mexico to go as a couple. Besides being a place for spring breakers, it is one of the most beautiful coastlines in all of Mexico. There are so many small resorts and boutique hotels along the Pacific coast that it can be difficult to select the most romantic ones.
The Cape is amazing. The setting along the rugged coastline is literally astonishing. The beach, the seemingly endless number of pools they have, the restaurants, the spa, the rooms. It’s absolute perfection.
El Cabo is one of the most romantic resorts in Mexico, second only to the Gran Solmar. This hotel has one of the most incredible locations in all of Mexico.
Located right on the edge of Lands End, the tip of the Baja Peninsula, you’ll feel like you’re at the end of the world, in the best way possible. You’ll definitely be spending an indulgent amount of money, but if you want to spend a few days at the most romantic resort in Mexico, this is the one to go to.
5. The jungles of Jalisco
Jalisco is the home of tequila and mariachi music. That may not scream romance (until you’ve had enough tequila), but there’s a little getaway in this famous state that might change your mind.
There is a small coastal town in what seems like the middle of the jungle called Yelapa. There are no roads leading to Yelapa. The only way to get there is by boat, either a water taxi or one arranged by the hotel. It is, without a doubt, one of the most romantic places in Mexico.
Picture it: a secluded beach by the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by jungle on three sides, birdsong, and the sound of waves crashing against the rocks at night. I don’t know about you, but that’s literally my perfect Mexico vacation for couples.
6. Riviera Nayarit
Riviera Nayarit is another beautiful region on the Pacific coast, close to Puerto Vallarta. The Imanta Resort is in Punta Mita. It is secluded enough to enjoy solitude with your partner, but offers all the amenities of a Mexican coastal town.
The villas have a private pool and huge sliding doors to enjoy the sound of the waves and the sea breeze without having to get out of bed.
Punta Mita is packed with activities like boat tours, whale watching, amazing scuba diving opportunities, and the ease of exploring nearby towns like Sayulita, Puerto Vallarta, and the laid-back beach town of San Pancho.
7. Take refuge on the coast of Oaxaca
The resort of Puerto Escondido used to be, as its name suggests, hidden away. However, more recently it has become a stunning place in Mexico for couples.
It has a perfect balance of Mexican culture and food thanks to being in one of the most food-focused states in Mexico. Things aren’t as expensive or trendy as other beach destinations since it’s not as developed as Cancun or Cabo.
But there are cute boutique resorts popping up that aren’t owned by big conglomerates and offer amazing service, beautiful rooms, incredible views, and may be some of the most romantic hotels in Mexico.
