Google Photos , the image storage service from Google , is preparing a new feature that will allow us to stop seeing people with whom we don’t get along or simply don’t want to have any contact. It’s a kind of manual censorship that we can choose for a particular face, so we won’t have to delete any specific image if we don’t want to. For now, this new feature would only affect the Memories that the application brings up on a recurring basis to highlight past events.
This is the new Google Photos feature to cover the faces of people we don’t get along with and that will arrive soon
This information comes via Android Authority, who have been datamining the latest version of the Google Photos APK. Recent changes to the code of this application have found clues that point to a new function that could be coming soon and that has to do with the voluntary censorship of specific faces in Memories of Google Photos .
Google Photos Memories regularly reminds us of important events uploaded to the service, both our own and those of our contacts. And given the nature of human relationships , this inevitably brings up images that might contain people we’ve chosen to cut contact with .
To alleviate this, the company has implemented this new feature that consists of hiding the face of memories , so we will not have to delete images to “forget” certain people as before. While before the change there was only the option to “show less” of a specific person in Google Photos Memories, after this modification an additional option is added that consists of blocking the face in question , effectively censoring the face of this individual in the images that Google Photos Memories resurfaces.
It’s unknown when this feature will be rolled out for general public use, or if it will be rolled out at all. The fact is that this Google Photos Memories feature exists, but the company might simply never implement it.
What is the new Google Photos Memories feature to block faces?
As we mentioned above, social relationships are complex , and on many occasions we have disagreements and disagreements with partners, friends, acquaintances and family members that can lead to arguments and even cutting off contact completely. In these latter cases, more drastic measures can be taken, such as blocking phone numbers, social networks or deleting images in which we appear together.
And that’s exactly what the Google Photos Memories Face Blocking feature is for : to help users avoid having to see people they no longer have a good relationship with , as this can bring back painful memories .
Each person deals with their grief in a different way , and it is very possible that what was once a photograph of a nice memory , after a breakup, an argument or a death, the same image completely changes context and only brings sadness to the affected person.
