Do you know why, when you are very attracted to someone, you have a crazy desire to kiss them with your tongue for a passionate French kiss ( love kissing ) while you would not imagine sharing your toothbrush with another person ?
Sure, it’s both very pleasant and particularly exciting, but apparently that’s not the primary reason. British researchers have discovered that this irrepressible urge to stick your tongue in his mouth is actually a survival instinct.
According to Dr Sarah Johns, an expert in human reproduction and evolutionary psychology at the University of Kent, tongue kissing is found in almost every culture, and in those where tongue kissing is not customary, people “sniff” each other.
But since the sense of smell is poorly developed in humans, kissing with the tongue allows us to smell and even “taste” a partner, not only because it has a comforting smell that instantly reduces our stress , but also for a kind of genetic test.
When we kiss with the tongue, the exchange of saliva allows us to see if our partner has different immune responses from ours, which would indicate that we are genetically compatible (the survival instinct in fact pushes us to procreate and therefore to favor the partner who will allow us to have a child who is as well-armed as possible against infectious diseases).
Kissing with tongue would therefore allow a kind of natural selection to be carried out to find the ideal partner.
So don’t deprive yourself of it if you want to! You can’t refuse such a genetic test…
